About me

I am an associate professor at the Computer Science Department of the  Federal University of Espírito Santo, Brazil.

I received my Doctor of Science in System Engineering and Computing degree in 2009 at COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), under the supervision of professor Ana Regina Cavalcanti da Rocha and professor Ricardo de Almeida Falbo. My doctorate thesis is entitled A Strategy for Software Measurement and Software Measurement Repository Evaluation for Statistical Process Control in High Maturity Organizations. Previous to that, in 2003, I received my Master of Science in System Engineering and Computing degree also at COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, under the supervision of professor Ana Regina Cavalcanti da Rocha and professor Guilherme Horta Travassos. My master thesis is entitled Time and Cost Planning in Enterprise Oriented Software Development Environments and received the Best Master Thesis Award from the 3rd Symposium on Software Quality. I received my Computer Science degree in 1999 at the Federal University of Espírito Santo.

I have been a senior member of the Ontology and Conceptual Modeling Research Group (NEMO) since 2010. I am a member of the steering committee of the Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality, I participate in program committees of national and international conferences (e.g., SBES, CIbSE, SBQS, ESEM, EASE, ONTOBRAS, PROFES, ACM SAC, among others) and serve as a reviewer for national and international journals (e.g., iSys, JSERD, IST, JSS, JSEP, AOJ, BISE, among others).

I am one of the authors of the book  Software Measurement and Statistical Process Control (in Portuguese).

Research Interests

My main research interests include Software Engineering, Ontologies Applied to Software Engineering, and Ontology Engineering. In this context, I have participated in research projects, collaborated with colleagues, supervised undergrad students — research (Scientific Initiation) projects and undergraduate final project — and graduate students — Masters and Ph.D. level. Topics on which I have worked in the last years include, among others: Measurement in Software Engineering, Software Engineering Ontology Network, Semantic Documentation, Ontology Engineering, Ontology Pattern Languages, Semantic Interoperability, Continuous Software Engineering, and Ontologies Applied to Human-Computer Interaction.
